RESIDENTS have until next Thursday to have their say about plans for further underground gas storage at the Holford Brinefield and surrounding area as part of the proposed Keuper Gas Storage Project.

Statutory consultation on the proposal ends on November 27.

The scheme would involve using specially-designed underground salt cavities created through solution mining to store natural gas.

The majority of the development would take place within the Holford Brinefield, which will include all of the proposed gas storage cavities.

Other smaller aspects of development would include two new brine tanks on the Lostock Works site.

The project is scheduled to start in 2017, and gas storage would begin from 2020.

Residents can submit their views by email, freepost and an online feedback form at www.kgsp.co.uk.

Comments must be submitted by November 27 to be included in the Consultation Report, which will be submitted as part of the application for a Development Consent Order to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
