VILLAGERS are being invited to Barnton’s annual Christmas tree lighting and carol concert on Tuesday, December 9.

The festive event will start at Jubilee Corner, at the junction of Townfield Lane and Lydyett Lane, at 6.30pm with the lighting of the tree and the start of the lantern parade.

The parade will continue along Townfield Lane to Rosebank School, where the new permanent Christmas tree will be lit, followed by a carol concert performed by Barnton Silver Band and the school choir.

There will be refreshments, along with hopefully some festive charity stalls, and residents are invited to come along and join the children from Rosebank School’s new choir in the carol singing.

If the weather is bad the concert will take place in the school hall.

The annual Older Residents’ Christmas party takes place on Saturday, December 13, at Barnton Memorial Hall, starting at 2.30pm and running until 5pm.

The party is being organised by Barnton Parish Council, and there will be entertainment, wine and Christmas high tea with sherry trifle. Tickets are available at £3.50 from parish clerk Phillip Evoy on 01606 782936.

There is an answer phone if the office is closed, and you can leave your name and address and the number of tickets needed.
