NEW deals have been confirmed for Warrington Wolves players Ben Westwood, Gareth O’Brien and Kevin Penny.

Back rower Westwood, aged 33, and half back O’Brien, aged 22, have each added a year to their current terms, keeping them at The Halliwell Jones Stadium until the end of 2016.

The option in winger Penny's contract for a further year on board with Wolves has been taken up, too, tying him down until the end of 2015.

Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “Gareth is maturing into a top-class Super League player. We have seen, against top-class opposition, his ability and what he can offer the team.

“He will continue to be part of the group of players who are challenging for the half back positions, which is healthy and brings out the best in each player.”

Smith added: “I am happy that Bennie has extended his stay. He’s wholehearted and is still producing some of those tireless performances.

“He had a little bit of an injury this year but he is still one of our top performers week in, week out.”

Penny, brought back to the club for a second spell this year, featured three times before a knee injury cost him a place in the team during 2014.

Smith said: “I’ve been impressed with Kevin’s attitude. He has shown a great desire to learn and progress.

“I look forward to seeing him progress further in 2015 and to challenge the other wingers within the group.”
