GIRLS at Cransley School, Great Budworth, undertook a 20-kilometre hike to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Qualifying Bronze Award, orienteering from Malpas to Tattenhall.

The 12 girls had to find their way from Malpas to Burwardsley across the fields, carrying all their camping equipment, food and clothing.

Once at Burwardsley they had to pitch their tents and make their evening meal, with lights and torches out by 10.30pm as they rested up for the next day’s trek to Tattenhall.

The girls taking part were Libby Acton, Olivia Bird, Olivia Brown, Jamie Cox, Jemima Cranston-Jones, Patience Donnelly, Zara Garbett, Eleanor Jones, Elizabeth Probert, Emily Sproston, Freya Steele and Alex Wild.

Staff at the school, Tracey Totterdell and Lisa Lambert, hosted a Macmillan coffee morning for parents, pupils and teachers and raised £414.

The school’s biggest family event of the year, the bonfire and fireworks display, takes place on Friday, November 7.

Tickets cost £6 per adult and £4 per child, or a family ticket costs £15, and can be purchased from the school office on 01606 891747 or bought on the gate from 6pm.

The bonfire will be lit at the school at 6.30pm and barbecue food will be available.
