AN interactive speed sign came out on top when parish councillors were asked for a list of priorities for their community.

Almost £60,000 of Section 106 money from the Lostock Triangle site needs to be spent.

Lostock Gralam Parish Council clerk Nicola Clarke met Jerry Gibbs from Cheshire West and Chester highways to discuss the use of the money.

Following the meeting Mr Gibbs and his colleagues came up with a series of suggestions for possible schemes for the parish council to discuss.

Councillors agreed on a priority list, the top being an additional interactive speed sign on the eastbound approach on Manchester Road, which could cost between £6,000 and £7,000.

Number two was a new footpath link outside 1 to 11 Stubbs Lane, which is estimated to cost £3,000 to £4,000.

The councillors chose 20 mph zones on housing areas as their third preference.

Cheshire West highways could look at introducing these zones on two residential areas either side of Manchester Road.

Speed limit assessments would have to be carried out to determine which areas would be suitable, and the scheme would cost between £2,000 and £4,000.

Councillors also expressed interest in verge hardening in Townshend Road to repair damaged areas, and suggested additional lighting for a footpath adjacent to the community centre leading to new housing.
