THREE big gigs are being planned to put Amplify on the map in October.

Louise Distras, hailed as representing the rebirth of British punk, will play at Northwich District Youth Club (NYDC) as part of her European tour.

Paul Barratt, from Cheshire West and Chester Council's young people's service, said: "Louise Distras tours Europe and this country and has about 10,000 likes on Facebook so she's the biggest act we've ever had at Amp.

"The gig is open to the public and all ages because it's to showcase who we are, what we do and what we can bring to the community."

The event, with support acts Beth England and Sammy H Stephens, will take place at the Winnington Lane venue from 7pm to 9pm on October 8.

Louise is also running a question and answer session after the gig.

Admission is £2 and proceeds will go to Northwich children's charity The Joshua Tree.

Amplify is then teaming up with a Warrington-based youth project called Headway, which promotes understanding of mental health issues in young people, to celebrate its fourth birthday on October 18.

Liverpool band Pavillions will play at the event, at Knights Grange, in Winsford, which is open to teenagers aged between 13 and 19.

Admission is £3 and proceeds will again go to The Joshua Tree.

An acoustic collective called To Anywhere will round the month off when they play at NYDC on October 22.

This is open to the public and will raise money for The Joshua Tree.

Admission is £2.
