EBONY Steen was crowned as Lostock Gralam's Rose Queen on Sunday, August 24 in front of hundreds of wellwishers.

The committee told the Guardian it wanted to thank Eleanor Hardy who was the retiring rose queen for 2013 on representing the village during the past year and also congratulated Ebony Steen on her appointment and wished her well on all her future events.

Emma Beasant, from the committee, said: "Lots of proud parents and grandparents, family and friends attended to see them all on their special day. The weather was on our side which was a great bonus.

"We would like to thank all the community that came and supported the event.

"We'd also thank all the business that have supported us this year to make it a great success.

"Hundreds of people attended the day which makes all the hard work and effort all worth it. Flowers were laid at the cenotaph at St. John's church in Lostock Gralam to commemorate 100 since the First World War by the Queens which was also attended by lots of villagers.

"Entertainment on the day was held by the retinue, impulse dancers, dancing for fun, Tai Kwon Do and Trickys entertainments who all did a fantastic job and a special thanks goes out to them."
