UNIVERSITY of Chester Academy Northwich principal Matthew Wood has expressed his pride in the achievements of his GCSE pupils.

UCAN has seen an improvement in the number of students achieving five or more A* to C (or equivalent) grades, including English and maths.

In addition 100 per cent of students sitting examinations in health and social care, ICT, PE and Spanish achieved a grade A* to C (or equivalent).

“Staff and students have worked so hard over the past few months in ensuring that our students achieved to their full potential,” said Mr Wood.

“All of our learning community, including our students’ families, have worked together, and these results are a testament in our joint determination to improve the life chances of every student who attends UCAN.

“I am very proud once again, and wish all of our year 11 leavers all the best for the future, and our door is always open.”

Top performing students include the following young people.

Megan Bruce (Crossley) gained five A*s, a Distinction*, an A and two Bs, and Brandon Foy achieved two A*s, six As, three Bs and a C.

Tiffanie Gould gained an A*, a Distinction*, three As and five Bs, Penny Leonard achieved an A*, six As and two Bs, and Ruth Leonard gained an A*, a Distinction*, four As, three Bs and a C.
