POLICE are appealing for information after several cars were broken into around Wincham Park while Witton Albion played last Saturday, August 16.

Four cars had their windows smashed and items stolen from within.

“Tools, a sat nav and a case of clothes are among the items stolen,” said a spokesman for Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Team.

“The cars have been targeted randomly. Someone has seen that there is a match on and taken the opportunity to commit these crimes.

“We would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time to contact police.”

Witton Albion club chairman, Mark Harris, said: “This is the first time in my 13 years at Witton that I can recall any cars being damaged. However this occurrence is one too many.

“Four cars were damaged in all, two of which were parked on a public road and which is therefore not stewarded, because it’s not our land.

“There are notices in the car park stating that vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk, but we will be looking closely at our match day procedures to see whether we can steward the car park.

“The club is looking for new stewards, so any offers of help would be appreciated. Training will be provided.”

Police received the first reported break-in at 4.30pm. It is likely all the crimes took place between kick off at 3pm and the end of the match.

If you saw anyone acting suspiciously around Wincham Park at the time, call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
