SOAP starts, sporting sensations, singing and strong men will entertain visitors to a four-day festival in Northwich at the weekend.

Northwich Festival takes place at Moss Farm Leisure Centre from Friday, August 22, to Monday, August 25.

The event promises something for everyone, with music, sport, motorbikes and family fun.

Former Coronation Street star Stephen Arnold, who played Ashley Peacock, will appear as part of Friday's Cheshire Independent Living Awareness Day (CILAD) and family fun day.

He will be supporting Apex Health + Social Care, one the UK’s leading independent providers of care in the home.

Friday night will then see the return of a Las Vegas Casino Party, featuring a Neil Diamond tribute act.

Saturday will include a women's rugby tournament, music festival from Amplify Youth Music Project, the final gig from Cheeky Monkey and a concert from Jam Town Rockers.

On Sunday Moss Farm will see a bike show alongside the Rock Wich Festival and the first Help for Heroes rugby tournament.

Bank Holiday Monday will kick off with a giant car boot sale from 7am.

From 11am a whole host of displays, activities and attractions will start.

Organiser Sam Naylor said: "The Northwich Strongman event, sponsored by the Works Gym commences at noon but there really is something for every taste from extreme sports to horse boarding.

"Steam engine rides, donkey rides, zorbing, rodeo bull, crazy golf, archery a full fun fair and lots more.

"Arena displays include netball, zumba, extreme sports and the crazy Karamba Samba Band.

"If this is not enough there is a superb line up for the acoustic music festival from noon until close at 5pm."

The event is being organised by Northwich Rugby Club and Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Admission is free for most of the festival but tickets need to be booked for the Las Vegas Casino Party Night, the Cheeky Monkey and Jam Town Rockers gig and the Rock Wich Festival.
