WEAVER Hall Museum and Workhouse in Northwich is appealing for objects from the 1950s and 1960s for a special exhibition which looks at what it was like being a teenager or young adult in the decades after the Second World War.
The exhibition titled ‘Coming of Age in Cheshire in the 50s and 60s’ will open on September 20.
The two decades offered increased opportunities and freedoms after the wartime restrictions of the 1940s.
This exhibition will explore the milestones and experiences of becoming an adult during this time, including, leaving home, getting married and greater freedoms for women.
‘Coming of Age’ will include local people’s memories and stories and museum staff are looking for objects from residents to borrow for the exhibition.
If you were a teenager or young adult in Cheshire during the 50s and 60s and think you may be able to help, please get in touch with Lucy Ashdown on 01244 972102 or email lucy.ashdown@cheshirewest.gov.uk
Davenham and Moulton Clr Elton Watson said: “The 50s and 60s were some of the most culturally and socially exhilarating years of recent times.
“It would be great to include objects from local people as part of this fascinating exhibition."
