SAINSBURY’S petrol station in Northwich will be closed until the middle of next month while it undergoes a major refurbishment.

The petrol station is on Venables Road, next to the supermarket, and closed today to allow the revamp to go ahead.

A Sainsbury’s spokeswoman said the petrol station had been closed to enable a complete refurbishment of the facilities, both customer facing and the behind-the-scenes part of the facility.

“We apologise to our customers for the temporary closure of our petrol station,” she said.

“It will reopen in a few weeks’ time with a smart new look, and colleagues are looking forward to serving customers then.”

The store has introduced an electronic number plate recognition system at the entrance to the car park, which the spokeswoman said had helped customers have better access to available parking spaces.

“It has also allowed the store to increase the length of time customers are able to park to three hours,” she added.
