CAMPAIGNERS hoping to defeat controversial plans for holiday lodges could have to wait almost four months to hear if they have been victorious.

The 70 luxury cabins are earmarked for Delamere Forest, and the scheme came under the spotlight at a public inquiry in Winsford in June.

The scheme is being opposed by campaign group Communities Against Delamere’s Destruction, which was formed by local residents, backed by trail running group Delamere Spartans, which donated £300 to the campaign.

The report of the planning inspector who conducted the public inquiry is due to be sent to Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, by September 19, and Mr Pickles is due to make a decision on the scheme on or before November 21.

The Forest Holidays and Forestry Commission plans include a replacement visitor centre, and were approved by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
