SLEEPY fundraisers can roll straight out of bed and do their bit for charity in an event that promises to be a stroll in the park.

The Onesie Walk takes place at Vickersway Park, also known as Roker Park, from 11am to 3pm on Sunday, August 10.

Participants are invited to wear their favourite piece of all-in-one sleepwear and walk around the park three times to raise sponsorship for The Brain Tumour Charity.

The event has been organised by brothers Elliot and Evan Johnson, aged 10 and 12, inspired by their grandparents Steve and Eileen Sharman.

Eileen was diagnosed with a brain tumour 16 years ago and has since done thousands of pounds worth of fundraising for the Walton Centre, the hospital that treated her.

She and her husband Steve have also supported the Brain Tumour Charity and set up a Northwich brain tumour support group in August last year.

This proved so popular it went from meeting once every three months to meeting monthly.

Eileen said: “The Onsie Walk is in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity.

“It’s my grandson’s idea, Elliot Johnson, and his brother Evan will be helping him.

“The Brain Tumour Charity says the boys are their youngest fundraisers and send them certificates for everything they do.”

The day will also include fun for all the family, including a variety of stalls, refreshments and activities.

Registration for the event is £3.
