STAFF at Tatton’s Home Farm have been busy creating a highly imaginative – and educational – programme of summer holiday activities for children to immerse themselves during their six weeks off.

The programme has been excitingly inspired by the farmyard tales of Kim Lewis.

Visitors are already enjoying viewing an exhibition displaying 12 pieces of Kim’s original artwork and transcripts from her books, including Floss, Emma's Lamb, Just Like Floss and Shepherd's Boy.

The Summer Farm Fun kicks off on Tuesday, July 29 and continues until Friday, August 22.

Children can search for Floss’s lost sheepdog puppies in the maize maze and follow the Little Baa trail in the farmyard and dress up as a shepherd and have their photo taken with Ma the sheep.

Back by popular demand are the daily sheep races with some of the farm’s lambs running as fast as their hooves can carry them cheered on by farm visitors.

Jayne Chapman, farm manager and head coach, said: “We have been training our lambs for the last couple of weeks now, and they are raring to go.

“It’s been a real close race up to now so it will just be down to the form on the day.

“The more people cheer the faster they seem to go, so we expect to hear lots of shouting for their favourite. It’s certainly a real fun event that everyone will enjoy.

“The farm’s well-liked farm facts sessions are a great way to get close to and learn more about some of Tatton’s wonderful farm animals – the hatchery talks are a particular favourite where cute newly hatched chicks are guaranteed.”

Totally Tatton Ticket – entry to three attractions: mansion, gardens and farm – is £11 for adults, child (aged four to 15) £5.50 and a family (two adults and up to three children) £27.50.

Park entry charge of £5 per car applies to all.
