PLAYSCHEMES are back in mid Cheshire to keep children occupied in the summer holidays.

Cheshire Community Development Trust (CCDT) has organised 11 schemes across Northwich and Winsford this year for children aged between six and 11.

Arthur Neil, CCDT chief executive, said: “This year’s schemes have proved more than the usual challenge as a number of our favourite school locations have not been available due to building work and, of course, funding gets tighter every year too.

“We have been grateful for additional support this year from Vale Royal Lions and Rotary which has enabled us to renew much of our play equipment so every site will now have one of the popular parachutes, rounders, boules, scratch games and a host of other kit.

“We have continued to keep the schemes free as we know that child care can be costly and parents are always pleased to have somewhere the children can play safely with their friends.”

He added: “We are grateful as always for support from Winsford and Northwich Town Councils, Rudheath, Moulton and Weaverham Parish councils, Weaver Vale Housing Trust and many of the local Cheshire West and Chester councillors.”

Playschemes will take place from July 28 to August 22 at Verdin Park, in Northwich, Rudheath parish playing field, in Gadbrook Road, Leftwich play area, in Old Hall Road, Weaverham Community Centre, Wharton Youth Club and Over Hall Community Primary School.

From July 28 to August 8 there will be schemes running at Barnton Community Primary School and Moulton.

Witton Church Walk CE Primary School will hold a sessions from August 11 and 22.

Darnhall Primary School will hold a scheme from July 28 to August 1 before it moves to St Chad’s Church Hall from August 4 to 22.

There will also be a playscheme at Grange Community Primary School from July 28 to August 8 then at New Images Youth Centre from August 11 to 22.
