THOUSANDS of pounds are flooding in for a little girl who may have only a few months to live.

Amelia Hill’s parents Andrew and Zoe have been overwhelmed by the public support for an appeal to pay for a special holiday for their daughter.

In just eight days £2,908 has been donated to an online donations page towards a target of £3,500, and numerous fundraising events are taking place to boost the total.

Amelia was born in October 2012, and within two days had been diagnosed with serious heart defects.

In January she underwent open heart surgery, and her parents were looking forward to a normal, healthy life for their daughter following the life-saving treatment.

However Amelia’s health deteriorated this month, and Andrew and Zoe, from Gladstone Street, Northwich, received the devastating news that their daughter may have a few months to live.

They are now hoping to take Amelia on some special trips, including Peppa Pig World in Hampshire and Euro Disney in Paris.

“Amelia became ill when we went away for a weekend, and was admitted to Leighton Hospital,” said Andrew, 24, a specialist support analyst for Barclays Bank at Gadbrook Park.

“They said they thought she was going into heart failure, and she was transferred to Alder Hey, where they did an emergency MRI scan.

“They found that her left lung had become disconnected, and her right lung and liver had become abnormal.

“The consultant said there was no further surgical help they could give her. It could only be medically managed, which would only help her for so long, and they told us she has a couple of months left with us. We were devastated and broke down.”

Andrew said doctors were seeking a second opinion from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London “to see if anything can be done surgically to save Amelia.”

He said he and Zoe, 27, who works in customer services at Waitrose in Northwich, had been inundated with messages of support, cards and flowers, and had set up an online donations page (www.gofundme.com/b4z904) for Amelia.

“The number of donations we have received has been unbelievable, and we want to fit in as many activities as we can for Amelia in the next couple of months,” he said.

“We want to give her experiences any child should have and to create memories we can keep.

“We are living each day as if it’s the last, and we both know some day it will happen, but until then just carry on as if she’s leading a normal life.

“The support from family and friends is keeping us going, and how Amelia is now and how well she looks."

Andrew expressed his thanks to everyone for their wishes and support.

“We have been overwhelmed, and cannot put into words how grateful we are for all the donations and people’s good wishes,” he said.

“People from both our works are doing their own fundraising for Amelia, and we don’t even know many of the people who have donated - thankyou to everyone.”
