SPORTS groups across Cheshire West are being encouraged to sign up for the Match 4 Macmillan initiative.
Any group of people can sign up to hold a match and raise money for Macmillan to help people affected by cancer.
Targeting community groups, teams and families who want to get active and raise funds, the join Celebration of Sport initiative offers grants of up to £100 for kit or equipment so people can have fun, get active and support Macmillan.
“We would love for groups across Cheshire West and Chester to register to hold a Match for Macmillan,” said Macmillan fundraising manager Sarah Page.
“It can be any sort of match - football, rugby, tennis, cricket, boules, darts, dominoes, ploughing, knitting – the list is endless.”
Anne Boyd, CEO from Sport Cheshire, said: “Sport Cheshire, on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council, are delighted to work with Macmillan on Match 4 Macmillan through the Celebration of Sport campaign.
“We hope the grants of £100 will help people to organise a fantastic Match 4 Macmillan. The £100 can be used for a range of things, including venue hire, kit or refreshments.”
Teams or individuals can apply for the grant until August 1, and for details ring Sarah Page on 07595 243018 or email spage@macmillan.org.uk.
