A FUN day that organisers promise to be the biggest and best yet is coming to Northwich this summer.

Aerial acts, fire breathers, stilt walkers and unicyclists are among the attractions planned for Vickersway Park on Saturday, August 2.

The free event is being organised by Northwich Town Council, supported by Cheshire West and Chester councillors through their members budgets, and will also feature a music festival in conjunction with Amplify Youth Music Project.

Other attractions include a fun fair, tractor and trailer rides, stocks and sponges, a craft tent, donkey rides, gingerbread decorating, Mini Dribblers football and bike rides.

Chris Shaw, Northwich Town Council’s clerk, said: “It’s bigger this year and there’s more happening and hopefully it will just be a great day.

“It’s the town council’s way of putting something back into the community which is affordable and fun for all the family.”

Admission is free, as are many of the activities on the day, including Vickersway Park’s existing attractions of putting, crazy golf and skittles.

There will be food stalls and a barbecue, face painting and representatives from the RNLI and Cheshire Search and Rescue.

Chris said: “The community fun day started with the Jubilee and it was such a success that the town council has now decided to carry it on and make it bigger and better each year.

“We’re already looking at next year and, with the help of the Northwich BID team, running it into a two-day event with things happening in the park and in the town.”

The community fun day takes place at Vickersway Park, also known locally as Roker Park, from 10am to 6pm.
