CHILDREN and young people are being invited to turn the page on a new reading adventure this summer.

Libraries across west Cheshire are holding a Summer Reading Challenge for children and are looking for volunteers aged between 13 and 24 to help out.

Volunteers will be recruited as reading activists and given training to help library staff in duties like encouraging children to complete the challenge, Mythical Maze, and help with displays, events and craft activities.

The Summer Reading Challenge is free for young readers to join and runs from Saturday, July 12, until Saturday, September 13.

Children can collect their Mythical Maze membership pack from any west Cheshire library, read six books from the selection available and collect stickers and prizes along the way.

Volunteering opportunities are available at Barnton and Wharton libraries in mid Cheshire.

For an application form and information visit cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/libraries, email: CWaCReadingActivists@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk or ring 01244 977380 and ask for the reading activist coordinator.
