NORTHWICH Folk Club welcomes two Knutsfordians to its guest night on Friday.

The artist appearing will be Knutsford poet Michael Gibson, with Allostock resident Charlotte Peters Rock acting as support.

Michael will be presenting a show entitled ‘Beowulf’s Boxer Shorts’ which has been billed as ‘the Heritage of English poetry stripped down to its rhythmic essentials’.

Michael said: “I worked to the roots of English poetry in the earliest stuff written.

“I had help with the Old English at Manchester University as I sought an answer to the question: ‘What is the rhythm of Beowulf?’ I have found the key; and I have a special insight into the rhythmical nature of all English poetry which I am developing and demonstrating through performance.”

Charlotte Peters Rock will be supporting Michael on the night and her songs and poems vividly illustrate her wide interests and concerns.

Charlotte is a regular at NFC and her lively personality and robust approach to her art has become a trademark of her contribution to the Cheshire Folk Scene.

The show, being held at the Harlequin Theatre, starts at 8.30pm, with doors opening at 8pm.

Tickets cost £5 or £4 for members.
