“The route will take in not only our Incredible Edibles plots and parts of the brilliant Winsford Heritage Walks, but also the new outdoor gym at Over Recreation Ground and other town council facilities such as Town Park and Wharton Rec.

“It’s a real opportunity for the community to come together, so I’d particularly like to encourage groups and businesses who are active in the town to get involved –be that in providing a walking team, volunteers to help on the day, or in sponsorship.”

The two-hour walk is across mainly flat ground and pavements and will set off from the Barton Stadium car park at 10.30am on Sunday, October 5.

Entry is £5 and under-16s go free, with entrants receiving a coveted Guardian Series Newspapers t-shirt.
