MORE than 20 years of volunteering were celebrated at a Northwich charity on Friday, June 6.

Vale Royal Disability Services (VRDS) presented 25 disabled volunteers with certificates to mark Volunteers Week when they were joined by town mayor Clr Alison Gerrard at their headquarters in Hartford.

VRDS, which is 23 years olds, was also celebrating securing the contract from Cheshire West and Chester Council to continue delivering Shopmobility services in Northwich and Winsford for the next three years.

Chris Pickthall MBE, VRDS chairman, said: “Without our volunteers, the organisation would cease to function.

“Their unstinting work makes a real difference to the lives of many people.

“On behalf of VRDS, I must say a big thank you to Clr Herbert Manley for supporting the event.”
