A TRADITIONAL village event will return to Davenham this month.

Davenham Village Carnival takes place on June 21 with an afternoon of entertainment.

A procession will start the event at 12.30pm when it makes its way from Hartford Road and around the village to the primary school on Charles Avenue.

The opening ceremony for the carnival will take place at Butchers Stile field at 1.30pm, followed by a parade of retiring royalty, the 2014 royalty and retinue and visiting queens.

The 2014 Davenham Carnival queen, Megan Keeling, will be crowned at 2pm.

A variety of stalls and games will be available in the field and a number of arena displays, including Clancy Clown, gymnastics, Davenham Primary School Band and Punch and Judy.

The field closes at 5.30pm.
