A BY-ELECTION will be held in Northwich following the resignation of a town centre councillor.
Amy Mercer-Bailey has stepped down from her role on both Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) and Northwich Town Council.
She has resigned because of a new career in a politically restricted job that prevents her from holding political office.
When elected in May 2011, she became CWAC’s youngest councillor at the age of 19.
The Labour councillor represented the CWAC ward of Winnington and Castle and the town council’s Bridge ward.
The CWAC by-election will take place on July 10 and, if a by-election is called for Northwich Town Council, it is expected to take place on the same day.
Last date for delivery of nomination papers for the CWAC by-election is not later than 4pm on Friday, June 13, and nominations will be published four days later.
