BARNTON Library is promising a thrilling evening on Wednesday, June 25, with the visit of author Ian McFadyen.

The Liverpool-born thriller writer is touring Cheshire libraries during June, and will be at Barnton Library from 6pm.

The following day, Thursday, June 26, Ian will be at Northwich Library at 2pm, and at Northwich Literature Festival at Sandiway Library at 7.30pm.

Ian’s series of crime novels include the recently-published Deadly Secrets, and are based in a fictitious village in Lancashire, where he spent the majority of his childhood.

Deadly Secrets is the fourth in the series featuring DI Steve Carmichael, and is a gripping tale of murder and mayhem set in the sleepy community of Moulton Bank.

When an eminent mathematician is found hanged in his home it looks at first like a simple case of suicide. Soon, however, Inspector Carmichael begins to suspect that the death is more complicated.

As investigations lead him and his team deep into the dead man’s murky past, dark and dangerous secrets begin to emerge.

The next book in the series, Killing Time, is due to be published next year.
