ENGINEERING company boss Matthew Kimpton-Smith is to attend a royal celebration being held to recognise the achievements of Queen’s Award winners.
Mr Kimpton-Smith is the managing director of Wincham-based Cygnet Group Ltd, which has been awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
He is to attend an event at Buckingham Palace on July 14 to celebrate all the award winners, both business and individual.
Cygnet Group manufactures engineering machinery to process technical fibres and fabrics used in the automotive, aerospace and wind energy sectors, and patented safety connectors for the subsea oil and gas sector.
“It’s a tremendous achievement to receive such a high level of recognition for the hard work we have done globally,” said Mr Kimpton-Smith.
“From senior managers to shop floor workers and our installation team who represent use throughout the world, this award recognises the efforts of every member of our team.”
Cygnet Group won the award for International Trade for outstanding overseas sales growth over the past three years, during which it has seen overseas earnings growth of 255 per cent, and has almost doubled its number of employees to 97.
Tatton MP George Osborne said he was delighted to learn of the award for the company.
“As I saw for myself, when I visited this family engineering company, they have achieved outstanding overseas growth and have doubled the number of employees at their Northwich factory,” he said.
“This is great news for Cygnet and great news for Northwich, and I congratulate them.”
Cygnet is based at New Cheshire Business Park in Wincham Lane, and was established in 1974.
It manufactures all its machinery from its UK base, and its export business makes up 85 per cent of total turnover.
The company has opened new offices in China and the USA, as well as entering a number of other new markets – Africa, Scandanavia and northern Canada – over the past three years.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the UK’s most prestigious business awards, and are given to companies or individuals who are outstanding in their field. They were previously known as The Queen’s Awards to Industry.
