POLICE have arrested one of two men who escaped from prison in Cheshire on Tuesday.

Officers are still appealing for information as to the whereabouts of John Arnold.

The 30-year-old was found to be missing from Thorn Cross open prison in Warrington at around 10.30am on Tuesday, May 20.

A second escaped man, Anthony Peloe, was arrested by Merseyside police at an address in Tarbock Road, Speke at 9.30pm yesterday evening, May 22.

Arnold remains at large. He was convicted of robbery on May 8 2006 and sentenced to two years imprisonment.

Police are advising as a precaution not to approach him. Anyone who sees him is advised to immediately ring 999.

He is described as white, around 5ft 11ins tall, and of slim in build. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He may be wearing prison issue green trousers.

Anyone who may have seen John Arnold since 10.30 am on Tuesday morning, or has any information regarding his current whereabouts, should contact police using the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident 306 of 20/05/2014.
