HOUSING plans could be in the pipeline for a field in Davenham.

The land, known as the ‘donkey field’, off Church Street, is being looked at as a site for potential development.

Davenham Parish Council has received a letter outlining potential plans.

Clr Andy Duff, chairman, said: “About 15 or 20 years ago the owner applied to get some housing on there.

“At that time it was rejected and we tried to buy it as a parish council.

“Through this property company now they’ve put in something saying they would like to build there.”

He said the field, opposite the church, is a self-contained area that overlooks the Bulls Head car park.

Access would be from Church Street.

Clr Keith Carter said: “If we’ve got to have houses somewhere I don’t see it as being a particularly horrible place to have them.”

Clr Brian Robinson said: “They’re trying to say it’s a wonderful place and won’t effect the village landscape but we will comment on that when it comes.

“We need to discuss it when the plans come through, we can’t discuss it now because we don’t know what the issues are.”
