THE man in charge of mid Cheshire’s regeneration is stepping down for personal reasons.

David Watson was appointed chairman of Weaver Valley Partnership Board in March 2013.

He said: “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to chair the board.

“Even though I have only been in the post for a relatively short period, I have witnessed an enormous amount of exciting things happening in Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich and the rural areas.

“I will continue to support the aims and objectives of the partnership on a local level wherever I can, and I hope to return as a board member at some point in the future.”

Weaver Valley Partnership Board was established in 2010 as a key delivery team for Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire East Council to drive the economic regeneration of mid Cheshire.

The 12-strong body – which is made up of volunteer members – has a remit to plan, co-ordinate and deliver a programme of development for Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich and the rural areas in between.

A recruitment drive will be launched for a new chairman, who will have a 24-month tenure.

The appointment process will follow the board’s governance policy.
