CRANSLEY School pupil Jemima Cranston-Jones won the Student of the Year title at the Young Enterprise county final presentation evening.

Jemima is in year 10 at the Great Budworth school, and is the managing director of the school’s Young Enterprise company, IDRIS.

The name stands for I Dunk Really Interesting Stuff, and Jemima had already tasted success as the Student of the Year at the area finals.

The company had invented ‘the soggy saver,’ which allows the user to dunk Oreo biscuits into milk without dropping them in.

Under the company programme the girls set up and ran a real firm for a year, under the guidance of business partners and link teachers.

They did everything from raising the initial share capital, through to designing and making their product, selling directly to customers and ultimately winding up the firm and paying their taxes.

The judges highlighted the fact that Jemima was the youngest entrant in the competition, which was made up mainly of sixth form students.

The county final presentation evening was held at STFS Daresbury Laboratory.
