CHILDREN are cheering after winning a share of a £1,000 donation from Waitrose in Northwich.

Each month every Waitrose branch donates £1,000 to local good causes, which is divided between three organisations.

The groups to benefit for April are Lostock Tiny Tots, Barnton Pre-School and Victoria Road Primary School, which are to receive £320, £326 and £354 respectively.

At the checkout customers are given a green token they can place in one of three Community Matters boxes on the way out.

The £1,000 is divided according to the number of tokens each group receives.

The groups being supported during May are the Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group, the Vale Royal branch of the MS Society and Redwalls Residents Outings and Entertainment Fund.

Customers can nominate local good causes to be considered for the Community Matters scheme by picking up a form in store and handing in a completed form at the welcome desk.
