AL Murray joined the The Old Star Inn party last night to host a quiz for the Winsford pub who are about to embrak on a World Cup trip to Rio.
The pub landlord headed the samba-themed quiz to a full house and got a great reception, only bettered by the applause for The Old Star Inn landlord Ernie.
Ernie will be heading to Brazil next month as part of McCoy’s search for a ‘Pub to Put on a Plane to Rio’ competition.
Al was in fine form, having photos with locals and delivering the quiz in his proper pub landlord-style, donned in an outfit to match Ernie.
The Guardian’s Gina Bebbington took the chance to speak to Al before the quiz kicked off, see what he had to say about Winsford, Ernie and how non-interested women can enjoy the World Cup.
