A COMEDY club is drawing people to Northwich from far and wide and preparing to launch a second venue.

The Roaring Laughter Comedy Club, which has become an established monthly event at Witton Albion Football Club, saw radio presenter and Phoenix Nights star Justin Moorhouse perform at its latest event.

He was joined by fellow headliner Steve Harris.

Noel Gallagher, organiser of the club, said: “Last month two people came from Huddersfield to see Justin Moorhouse.

“For people that live in Northwich, this is on your doorstep and it’s so good that people are coming from Huddersfield.”

He added: “Personally I have never laughed so hard and hearing the crowd enjoy themselves was wonderful.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to both audiences for helping to make some great nights.

“Comedians feed off the audience’s response and all our beautiful guests did not disappoint.”

The next event is at Witton Albion FC on Friday, May 16, to coincide with a weekend beer festival at the football club.

Brendan Riley is headlining with Adam Rushton and Jenny Collier as support acts and Ste Porter as compere.

The club’s first event was held at the Oaklands in July 2013 and it was launched as a monthly event in December.

It will celebrate its first birthday by launching a second comedy night at Owley Wood Recreation Club on July 11 with Greg Cook as the headline act.

Noel said: “We produce comedy nights that bring the top working comedians from the usual city centre locations and put them in front of local audiences.

“We only use top working, circuit comedians – many of which have many TV and radio accolades, many are prolific comedy writers. “The chances are that in the next 12 months some of the acts you will see in our club will get their break as the next big comic. “There are a few I’m keeping my eye on!”
