Yet another crash on this road. The council needs to seriously look at all the incidents that occur on this stretch of road and put things in place to help the situation. Traffic lights, roundabouts.....

No traffic lights. Try putting working speed cameras in first and I bet speeds will be reduced. Traffic lights will just cause huge tailbacks and I personally don't want to sit in them because people refuse to slow down or just consider other road users more.

They are taking out speed cameras, caving into the anti-social morons who insist on speeding who have the cheek to complain when they're caught!

Traffic lights just cause congestion, speed cameras only slow people down at specific locations meaning they go even faster elsewhere. How about trying some common sense instead?

First curse the Romans for building such straight roads. Then consider why speeds are so high on this road; it's because drivers perceive it as "safe" because it's so straight and looks easy to drive. One environment-friendly solution to this is to make it feel *less* safe by disrupting sight lines, using speed bumps and rumble strips, and narrowing lanes. The last thing we need is more bl***y traffic lights and roundabouts. However the total lack of imagination or foresight in CWAC makes any of this highly unlikely.

There is actually plenty of space for a small sliproad to be added at this junction. But the main reason for the danger at this particular location, and I drive there alot, is that women and old people drive too slowly. This forces proper drivers, even the Morrisons and Richards HGV's, to overtake on parts of straight road. Then there are women who join King Street from Davenham road, only looking right for that is where the traffic is coming from in the lane they are joining. But because they are women and never overtake anyone, they don't think that they also need to look left, as there may be a proper driver overtaking a snail on the other side of the road.
As for cyclists......... a menace to society!
