Unlock the secrets of the internet - for free

4:03pm Friday 2nd May 2014

VILLAGERS will be able to unlock the secrets of the internet at a series of free courses at their community centre.

The computer sessions will teach everything from how to use email and searching online to paying bills and hunting for a job.

The sessions are to be held at Lostock Gralam Community Centre, and will be run by staff from Work Zone at Northwich Railway Station.

Community centre committee vice-chairman Liz Wood approached Work Zone co-ordinator Debbie Cragg about offering outreach sessions at the centre, and was delighted that the idea is to become a reality.

“We are thrilled that the centre is to offer the classes,” said Liz.

“We wanted the community to be able to use the computers we have bought with the grant we received from Manchester Airport.

“The classes are suitable for complete novices, and will teach basic computer skills such as how to set up email, shop on the internet and search for a job.”

The airport grant enabled the centre in Stubbs Lane to buy a number of laptops, a printer/scanner and laminator, and the computer sessions will be able to cater for up to seven people at a time.

They are aimed at people aged 19 and over, are due to start on Thursday, June 5 and will run every Thursday from midday to 2pm and 2pm to 4pm.
