WRITERS are preparing to share their secrets in the third Northwich LitFest in June.

A total of 13 events are planned throughout the month, with guest speakers including Sunny Ormonde, who plays Lilian Bellamy in The Archers, and Julia Baird, John Lennon’s half sister.

Sunny, who played to a sell-out audience in 2013, is returning with Archers co-star John Telfer, who plays the Rev Alan Franks.

Julia will give a talk on her book ‘Imagine This’, about the truth behind her legendary half brother.

Susi Osborne, a writer herself and organiser of LitFest, said she was amazed by the growing popularity of the event.

“When I first had the idea back in 2012 I really didn’t know what the reaction would be, but the feedback I get is tremendous.”

Susi added that in addition to its success as a literary festival, she has been pleasantly surprised by another aspect of Northwich LitFest.

“Although it is obviously enjoyed by lovers of the written and spoken word, it has also developed a wonderful social element,” she said.

“It’s a safe place for people of whatever age to go, even if they’re on their own.

“They can stay and chat afterwards and have a drink – a lot of firm friendships have developed, in fact it’s become quite a social scene.”
