WORLD class cyclists will race through Northwich on Sunday, April 27.

Dame Sarah Storey, Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell are headlining the biggest Cheshire Classic Women’s Road Race to date.

The race, which is organised by Weaver Valley Cycling Club and forms part of British Cycling’s National Series, sees riders compete over an extended race distance, taking on 12 ascents of the notorious “The Cliff” climb, in Acton Bridge.

2013 Cheshire Classic winner Karla Boddy returns to defend her title alongside current leader of the National Series Nikki Juniper, European Team Pursuit Champion Katie Archibald and Junior World Team Pursuit Champion Emily Kay.

Race organiser Andy Wood said: “We had more than 140 entries for 80 places with riders coming from all over the UK.

“I’m really proud that we’ve been able to attract such a strong field and I’d like to thank everyone for their support.

“It is a great example of just how much women’s cycling has developed.

“The talent we now have in the UK is incredible”.

The race starts at 9.30am. For more information visit cheshireclassic.co.uk
