CLASSIC hits from Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye to Amy Winehouse and Beyonce are guaranteed to produce a great night out at Witton Albion FC on Friday.

SOULvation perform songs from the past six decades, and the band night at Witton’s social club is the latest community event staged by parish councillor Annie Makepeace.

Annie has staged a number of events at the community centre in Wincham over the past two years, and the SOULvation show is aimed at offering entertainment for people at the Witton Albion end of the village.

“There is no history of anything happening here at all, and as far as Wincham goes if residents want to see any professional performances we have to drive to a city as there are no buses out of the village after 6pm-ish” said Annie.

“Tickets for these shows are very expensive, and we don’t even have a pub or church in the village to organise social events.

“Wincham deserves a social life – that’s the target.

“SOULvation is our first band night, and they’re the best soul band I’ve heard in a long time, so we’re honoured to have them play here.”

Wincham residents asked for entertainment as part of the Parish Plan consultation process a few years ago, and Annie took it upon herself to see what she could do to help.

“It is the first time we have put something on at Witton Albion, and we wanted to make events more accessible to people at that end of the village,” said Annie.

“SOULvation are great fun and respond to their audiences. They have a wide appeal, and are guaranteed to have people singing, dancing and having a good time from the first song to the last.

“We would urge people to keep an eye out for our newsletter and to tell us what they want.”

SOULvation is a six-piece Cheshire-based band, and tickets for the Witton Albion show, which starts at 8pm, are £4 in advance by ringing 01565 734226 or £5 on the door.

Tickets can also be booked on the Wincham Village facebook page.
