A NORTHWICH funnyman is helping live comedy boom across mid Cheshire.

About a year ago Kevin Dewsbury, from Barnton, tentatively launched Ha Ha at The Harlequin Theatre to see if a stand up night would prove popular in Northwich town centre.

It quickly became a hit and has led Kevin to organise more stand up nights, with his latest event launching at The Duke of Portland, in Lach Dennis, tomorrow, Thursday.

“It’s going to be a slightly different sort of show,” he said.

“They’re both good stand up shows but the Duke of Portland is going to be even more laid back where two acts will do even more extended sets with myself hosting it.”

The Dukes of Comedy night will star Mike Wilkinson and Caimh McDonnell.

It starts at 8pm and tickets are £7.

Kevin, who has performed across the UK and overseas and been the support act for comedians like Tim Vine and Lucy Porter, is also hosting Ha Ha at the Harlequin Theatre on Saturday.

This starts at 7.30pm and will feature headliner Dave Johns and support from Harriet Dyer and Chris Washington.

Only a small number of tickets are left, priced £10.

Kevin, a former Sir John Deane’s College and St Nicholas Catholic High School student, also hosts a weekly comedy night at De bees, in Winsford, with three up-and-coming acts and pro headliner.

This is from 7pm to 8pm and admission is £5, which includes a beer.
