WHY did the toilet paper roll down the hill?

To get to the bottom!

Soon-to-be stand-up comedian Kelvey Biddle is hoping this rib tickler will scoop the top prize in a national joke telling competition next week.

Ten funny youngsters were shortlisted in September last year after children from primary schools across the country were invited to tell their own jokes.

Barnton Community Primary School pupil Kelvey will travel to London on Monday, March 17 with his older brother Arron and his Grandad Joe – who is groundsman for Northwich Victoria Football Club – for the grand final at Speaker’s House in Westminster.

Joe, of Alfred Street in Castle, Northwich, said: “Kelvey is really excited about going to London because he’s never been before and I’m looking forward to taking them on the train.

“It will be an adventure.”

Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow MP will host the event, which is a joint initiative by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and The Communication Trust aimed at raising awareness of the importance of communcation.

Kelvey, who is in year three, will recite his joke at the Voice Box grand final to a judging panel which includes comedian Lee Mack.

Lee said: “I'm delighted to be a part of Voice Box and support this important RCSLT campaign.

“I look forward to meeting the budding comedians at the final.

“I’m sure they’ll all be great but hopefully not so great that they put me out of a job!”

Anne Fox, director of TCT, said: “Voice Box helps schools to bring communication to the fore and acts as a really practical way to make school more communication friendly.”
