TOWN centre roads are set to be closed while resurfacing works take place in Northwich.

Roadworks will close Castle Street on Sunday, March 23, and Chesterway on Sunday, March 30.

Signed diversion routes will be in place and access will be maintained for businesses and residents.

Navigation Road and Queen Street will also be closed at their junctions with Chesterway on Sunday, March 30.

Clr Lynn Riley, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s (CWAC) executive member for localities, said: “With the development of Barons Quay, Memorial Court and the now completed Marina, these works to the gyratory system will be in place for the increased number of visitors and residents coming to Northwich in the future.

“We apologise for the disruption over the two weekends as part of the upgrading of the gyratory and Sundays were chosen to cause the least disruption overall.”

Clr Paul Dolan, from CWAC and Northwich Town Council, said: “I realise that Northwich is embarking on major regeneration that will bring more people into the centre and investment in the town’s road infrastructure is needed to support this growth.

“However I remain concerned at the long term impact to local traders both in the immediate Castle area and the town in general.”

The dates for each road closure are weather dependent.
