RUNNERS are being invited to attend Vale Royals Lions’ Weaver Run at Sir John Deane’s College on Sunday, March 30.

The event offers two courses; a seven-mile more challenging route or a three-mile jog for the leisure runners. The picturesque course is there to be enjoyed by all, whatever your level.

The shorter route follows the River Weaver south from the college along the west bank to the blue bridge at the A556, crosses the bridge footpath and returns back to the college on the other side of the river.

The longer course follows the river south on the east side path, past Vale Royal Locks to the Country Park by Bradford Road, heading towards Moulton and Davenham before re-joining the river path at the blue bridge to return to the college.

“If leisure jogging is not your scene, why not join us and walk either route,” said Rob Brown of Vale Royal Lions.

“Vale Royal Lions have been serving the local community for more than 38 years and this run is their next event which is aimed at raising funds to enable them to continue their service. “The Weaver Run promises to be a successful and enjoyable day, and will help with your fitness.”

Participants should register at entrycentral.com where the runs are listed separately under the event name of Vale Royal Lions Weaver Run. Payment is made via the website, £8 and £4 for the seven miles and three miles, respectively.

These prices include a hot dog roll and hot drink at the end of the run. Entry prices on the day at the college are £10 and £5, but with a limit of 200 entrants in total, runners are advised to register online early to be sure of securing a place.

The event is open to all abilities aged 12 and over. Participants between 12 and 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Runners will be timed and medals will be awarded for first, second and third place on both courses.

“Family and friends are welcome to give encouragement to the runners at the Start and cheer them home at the finish,” added Rob. “Whilst waiting, there will be a hot dog barbeque and hot drinks available.”
