SERGIO Aguero may have spent February sidelined with injury, but the Manchester City ace continued netting off the pitch after paying a surprise visit to a Middlewich fishing shop.

The in-form 25-year-old has reeled in the plaudits this season, but gave workers at Dave’s of Middlewich, on Lewin Street, a shock when he visited the store with his entourage.

The £38millon striker was spotted at the angling supercentre as he prepared for a sea fishing trip off the coast of Southport.

However, ‘Kun’ was for once not looking to skip around tackles and was fully kitted out by the staff at Dave's.

An employee said: “I’m not a football fan, I’d rather go fishing, so I didn’t recognise him at first as he was wearing a baseball cap, but one of the lads who was serving did.

“He bought rods, reels, a chair, other bits and bobs; I think that particular visit was a one off, but the guys he was with said they would be coming in again.

“It was a bit of a shock and I don’t think he’s from around Middlewich or Winsford way, but the lads got a picture and the boss posted it on Facebook!”

The Argentine has not featured since getting crocked against Tottenham Hotspur in January, having bagged 26 times for City this campaign.

Aguero’s fishing career may have to be put on hold for the foreseeable future, however, as the striker is rumoured to be in line for a return to the City squad when they face Sunderland in the Capital One Cup final on Sunday.
