A MUM who was made redundant while on maternity leave has bounced back by setting up her toddler group.

Sarah Mansfield lost her job at the end of 2013, just months after giving birth to her daughter Georgia, who was born in July.

But Sarah, who lives in Victoria Road with husband Danny and little Georgia, refused to let it beat her.

“It was a bit of a shock,” she said.

“I was head of client relations with 3,000 people to look after.

“But things happen for a reason and I’m not going to let it ruin me.

“I thought I would make something for my daughter and give other mums in the area something to do.

“I can’t sit around doing nothing, I need something to get my teeth into.”

Sarah has launched Play Dates Baby and Toddler Group, which meets at Shurlach Methodist Chapel every Friday.

She offers parents chance to come and play with their children and meet other mums and dads or they can drop off their child and have a break themselves.

“I want people to feel very welcome,” Sarah said.

“If you walk in on your own someone will talk to you, and new mums are best for giving advice.

“I got some of the best advice off new mums.

“Or if people want to leave their children they can go and do some shopping, catch up on housework or just have an hour to themselves.”

Play Dates runs from 10am to noon and from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

The cost is £2 for ‘stay and play’ or £6 for ‘play with friends’ where a child can be left for an hour and 45 minutes.
