RUNNERS are being urged to sign up for a picturesque event along the River Weaver this March.
Vale Royal Lions Weaver Run will take place on Sunday, March 30, starting and finishing at Sir John Deane’s College.
There are two courses to choose from including a seven-mile route for those looking for a challenge and a three-mile run for leisure joggers.
The shorter route follows the River Weaver from the college to the blue bridge at the A556, crosses the bridge footpath and returns back to the college on the other side of the river.
The longer course follows the river past Vale Royal Locks to the country park by Bradford Road, after which the route heads towards Moulton and then Davenham before re-joining the river path at the blue bridge to return to the college.
The event is open to all abilities aged 12 and above but participants aged between 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
All runners will be timed and there are medals for the first, second and third positions for both courses.
A hot dog barbecue and hot drinks will be available for family and friends cheering the runners on at the start and finish line.
To register visit entrycentral.com and search for Vale Royal Lions Weaver Run.
Admission is £8 for the seven-mile route and £4 for the three-mile route, which includes a hot dog and hot drink.
Entry on the day is £10 and £5 respectively but runners are advised to register early to secure a place.
The run is to raise funds for the Vale Royal Lions, which has been serving the community for more than 38 years.
