IT will be laugh-a-minute at Wincham Park on Saturday as Roaring Laughter Comedy Club rolls into town once more.

‘Mixed Nuts’, a night that sold more than 200 tickets in January, returns on Saturday, February 22 at Witton Albion Football Club on Chapel Street.

This will be the third event in Northwich since DJ Noel Gallagher founded the comedy club last year, making Wincham Park its permanent home and showcasing professional acts from the circuit.

“I’ve been a DJ since 2000 but I’ve always loved live comedy,” said Noel. “I feel that ability to make someone laugh is a real blessing. “I’m also a firm believer that laughter is the greatest gift you can give someone. I just happened to DJ at Witton Albion for a friend and on that night I found a new home for the comedy club.

“So, ‘The Roaring Laughter Comedy Club’ was born and it completely outstripped my expectations, which is excellent for the football club and the comedy club.

“So many people don’t realise this great facility is right on their doorstep. It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves in January – the laughter was deafening.”

Sam Harland will compere February’s show, as BBC comedian of the year Des Sharples, comedy TV writer John Warburton and headliner Bill Woolland perform.

“I’m hoping the club will become a real force in live comedy, a household name and eventually incorporate more venues,” added Noel.

“The difference is, our ticket price is half that of the established clubs, the drinks are pub priced and it’s local so cheaper than a jaunt into the big cities – people can purchase hot pot for less than a fiver!”

Greg Cook compered the January show and radio DJ Justin Moorhouse is lined up for future gigs, but Noel’s son, four-year-old Archie, is also playing a key role in the club’s success.

“In the long term, we’ve been talking to some real big names and hope to throw more than a couple of surprises in the hat,” Noel said.

“Archie loves stand up; I’m not quite sure he gets all the jokes, at least I hope he doesn’t, but he belly laughs like he does – he’s even started putting on comedy shows at pre school!”
