A FAMILY butcher is appealing to customers to share the most unusual or exotic places they have eaten one of his pies.
Nick Birtwisle is tempting people who send in their stories, accompanied by a picture, by offering a juicy £100 voucher for his Northwich or Winsford Birtwisles shops to the best.
The competition, which is the brainchild of Nick’s niece Leanne Norrey, has been inspired by some of the unusual lunch break tales staff hear from their customers.
Nick said: “We get people coming in for pies and taking them back here and there.
“People take them all over the world and I thought it would be interesting to get some pictures of people eating pies in these weird and wonderful places.
“We had a builder that came in and said he was going to eat his pie sat on top of a roof he was fixing and we’ve had a pilot say he has his on the plane.
“It makes you think it would be nice to see what people actually do and where they have their lunch break with their pie.
“And it’s not just about how far they go but the most unique and different places.”
Birtwisles, which has shops in Witton Street, in Northwich, and Dingle Walk, in Winsford, has a history dating back to 1934 when Nick’s uncle Jack opened a shop in Church Road, in Northwich.
