STORIES of the picturesque Great Budworth are the subject of the latest exhibition at a Northwich museum.

Close Together on a Green Hill is an exhibition at Weaver Hall Museum of Victorian watercolours, artefacts, vintage photographs and artwork specially created for the displays by the pupils from Great Budworth Primary School.

At the end of 2013 the museum worked with the whole school for a local history week, discovering some of the people who had lived in the village in the past and producing artwork based on the watercolours of Isaiah Kitchingman. Kitchingman was an artist who lived in Great Budworth from 1847 until the late 1850s and painted several watercolours of local scenes and stories of daily life.

His work has rarely been seen, but is currently on show as part of this exhibition.

There is also a look at the church of St Mary and All Saints along with clay models produced by pupils at the village school based on the medieval stone carvings in the church.

Great Budworth Dairy Ice Cream Farm has loaned material including a Victorian ice cream maker and many small metal artefacts from Roman to Victorian times which have been discovered on its fields and show the range of activity around the village through the centuries.

Ice cream from the farm is also now available in the museum shop.

Admission is free to the exhibition which runs until April 6.
