PEOPLE are being urged to get help from pharmacists when they feel under the weather in a new NHS campaign.
The Earlier, the Better campaign is about preventing a minor illness developing into something more serious.
Professor Keith Willett, from NHS England, said: “It’s easy to forget that our local pharmacists can provide expert guidance on how to help manage long term conditions, or give advice on the best treatment for a cough or cold.
“So it’s essential that older people seek help as soon as possible to prevent a trip to hospital if their condition gets worse The earlier, the better.”
Vale Royal Clinical Commissioning Group hopes the campaign will raise awareness of where to access self-care information and advice across Northwich and Winsford and improve confidence in community pharmacy services for dealing with minor illnesses and ailments.
For expert advice and treatment, without the need to wait for a Doctor’s appointment, local pharmacies are able to provide a confidential service, as can NHS 111 and the NHS Choices website nhs.uk.
